“ NOTHING IS MORE ETERNAL THAN A WRITTEN AND BOUND PAD OF PAPER.”

“ ONE OF THE ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS OF PHYLOSOPHY REMAINS INSCRIBED IN ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE SHADE. THE INTELECTUAL MEDIUMS ARE MADE OF INK TO GIVE A LEGACY TO OUR SOULS. IT’S A VERY SIMPLE TECHNOLOGY, THE BOOK. WITHOUT SHAPE MADE OF DARKNESS, REMAINS THE ABSENCE, THE ONTOLOGICAL ENIGMA TO WHICH THE OBSERVER TRIES TO ANSWER BY IDENTIFYING WHAT STILL REMAINS. IMPOSSIBLE TO BE SEEN. THEREFORE, BY ESSENCE PHYLOSOPHICAL ANSWERS ARE MADE OF SHADOW, IT REMAINS INTO INTERSTICES, INTO THE DEEP. “

- Cercle SMHRCH , 2007 October 25th , Paris.

Today SMHRCH is a publisher intended to produce all the projects of the SMHRCH circle. This implies a lecture of the world, a radical political stand. It's just an onther step of a journey that began 20 years ago.

Formed in 2002 in rue Assas, Paris, SMHRCH is an art group in the shadow of the ghosts of the early XXth century in the Luxembourg Gardens during informal meetings that would form the basis of a circle, which was in its very moment the lost expression of a childhood determined to remain unspoiled, free and turned towards the remnant of transcendent values. It had to live with the memory, live with the violence of what it imposed on every new born, the relay of the worst that we have to learn to wipe out, as if we had to wash the sky itself.

In this perspective, how to organize, how to find a structure to rise? These attempts have been unsuccessful with the best and renowned art institutions and industrial structures, which remain incapable of not being this relays of the worst that has permanently settled in human societies. So much everything was flawed, it had to start all over again, rewrite the world, rewrite history, art and even religions, up to the most simple expressions of civilization .

Centered around the questions of inheritance, the search for happiness, the need for shared joy, the problem of the inertia of the worst in human societies opposed to the ideal mysantropical experiences of artists, writers, authors, SMHRCH has for 20 years sought the keys that would allow it to give itself a foundation to implement this evidence: This ideal world exists, it is not human, but it is the fact of a isolated and rare souls. Is such a union of those who remains possible? What is this circle that is taking shape? This is the foundation of the Symehyarchy.
From Cioran to Simone Veil, from Charles Péguy to Hannah Arendt, from Faulkner to Gunter Anders, films and ballet, a musical piece, an unexpected encounter, between sacred aspiration, lunacy, off-screen and activism a random correspondence is formed from which the contours of a kaleidoscope work begin to emerge, between novels and paintings, between the need of giving oneself a body, to dress and animate itself, filled with a trained conscience that could inhabit this Future Eden which remains to be built.

After moving from Paris to London, Milan, Shenzhen, and other short-lived destinations in Europe and Asia, SMHRCH is now based in Seoul, and centered around a grown international circle. It spreads around several axes: A Publishing Studio, a Design Studio and an Art Laboratory whose vocation is the production of films and plastic works. This approach is part of the desire to draw a new line, something that is expected, but which did not take place. It is up to us to manifest it.
We also offer our services for the publication of paper books, multimedia, architecture, design, curation and consulting services .

PUBLISHING THE SHADE

The publishing house SMHRCH which will present in October its first periodic publication SYMEHYARCHE ISSUE01. A curated journal of art, sciences, and technologies, devoted to the perspectives of the Now, a stream that synthesizes the essences of our civilization. This journal will be the beginning of an off-road journey, a semantic experience that questions the convergence of mediums, of times, in an attempt to produce living matter for a living being.

The SMHRCH catalog opens with SYMEHYARCHE issue 01, "The Ascent of the Pale Sun Awaits." Resolutely revolving around the question of the sanctuary, it questions the paradox of the need for transumence and the conservation of the immortal temple. Each year appears a new volume, forming a dark semantic journey, a living formulation of eternal limitations transcended by engineering, art, failure and love.
Obviously this art review is an opportunity to revive major and radical works. We work closely with contributors, without compromises.
